The Tamil Nadu shows that 9.8 percent of the populations in the State are diabetic, which amount of 42 lakh. The urban Tamil Nadu has 13.5 percent and rural parts 6.9 percent, shows a study conducted by the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation and supported by the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research).

The Thirty lakh people in the State are in the diabetes final stage, with a break up of 8 percent in urban areas and 6.4 percent in rural belt.
